I’m taking votes on the structure, tone, length, imagery, plasticity, and overall content of my next poem.  This poem will bypass the usual circuitous route of notebook, workshop, homemade book, little magazine, republished in bigger magazine with minor changes, to manuscript, to rejection, to resubmission until accepted by small press, to republished years later in large press Selected Poems, to The Best American Poetry chosen by so&so, to being quoted in newspapers, epigraphs, artist statements, and finally political speech(the loftiest destination for a poem); yes, it will skirt these pitfalls and enter directly into the culture pre-approved and pre-digested for the general public’s re-consummation.
